Each Christmas holiday season, the Maine Pops Concert Band partners local organizations to perform holiday benefit concerts for local charities. In the past, the band has annually supported efforts with concerts at St. Luke’s Cathedral in Portland and the Mountainside Community Church in Falmouth.
However, with the growth of the Maine Pops Concert Band to a membership of over 100 musicians, fitting the band into a small or mid-sized chapel/sanctuary is no longer possible.
In 2024, the Maine Pops Concert Band held its holiday benefit concert at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center in Westbrook, ME. There, the band had a stage capable of holding the band. The beautiful, two-tiered auditorium was a wonderful location for the annual Christmas concert to raise funds for local causes during the holiday season.
With the size of the band at new levels, the practice of holding our holiday concert in larger concert-level facilities will now be its practice and the Maine Pops Concert Band is already in negotiations for a host for the 2025 holiday event.
Proceeds from the 2024 holiday concert the Trauma Intervention Program of Greater Portland, and the Animal Rescue League of Greater Portland Pet Food Pantry. Those wishing to donate following the concert should contact the two entities for details on future contributions.
Details on the band’s 2025 Christmas benefit concert will be announced this fall.
The Maine POPS Concert Band is a 501(c)3 education charity.
